MORANO GELATO is a small New Hampshire-based company dedicated to promoting the art of gelato-making through our production of authentic Italian gelato in small, concentrated batches. Owners Pam and Bill Miles and Jennifer and John Langhus took over Morano Gelato Hanover in September 2013 from founder Morgan Morano who remains the business' Executive Chef. Morgan spent six years learning the true art of gelato-making in Florence. After returning to the United States, Morgan longed for the authentic gelato shops of Italy. Disappointed with products claiming to be 'gelato,' she set out to establish the tradition of artisanal gelato-making in America and recreate pure Italian gelato in the Upper Valley. In May 2010, Morgan purchased her first gelato machine, built in and shipped from Northern Italy. Word of the high quality of Morgan's gelato spread quickly after her premiere at the the Hanover Farmer’s Market in June 2010. When space became available on Main Street in Hanover next to the Nugget Movie Theater, Morgan moved the business and realized her ultimate goal of owning her own gelato shop. Morano Gelato's menu includes 16 flavors of gelato made fresh in the kitchen at the shop each morning as well as semifreddo frozen mousse desserts, King's Row Coffee espresso blend with notes of toffee and toasted nuts, perfect for lattes and cappuccinos, as well as other specialties such as brioche con gelato, and drinks that include affogato (gelato with espresso or hot chocolate), frappes, San Pellegrino floats, and hot apple cider and Italian-style cioccolata calda in the cooler months. |
